Old Route 17 is the original alignment of NY 17 prior to the construction of the Quickway (NY 17/Future I-86). The portion in Delaware County is designated CR 17. It begins at NY 268 at the point in Hancock where it turns north onto Cadosia-Apex Road. Old Route 17 runs east, right next to the Quickway, as a two-lane undivided road. When it reaches the border with Sullivan County, it changes designation to become CR 179A.
