NJ 20 is a short north/south route along the Passaic River in Paterson. For most of its length, it is known as McLean Boulevard and is a four-lane divided highway. It begins at US 46, just south of the Bergen-Passaic Expressway (I-80), and runs north for a few miles. When McLean Boulevard ends, it splits into a pair of parallel one-way streets. Northbound traffic follows 1st Avenue, while southbound traffic follows River Street and 2nd Avenue. NJ 20 ends at Lincoln Avenue (CR 504), which crosses the Passaic River to Hawthorne.
