CR 524 is an east/west route crossing the state near its center. It begins at US 206 just north of I-195, at the same point where CR 533 has its southern terminus. It runs east to Spring Lake Heights, where it ends at NJ 71. It has an alternate route along Squankum-Yellowbrook Road that bypasses the downtown area of Farmingdale, as well as a spur route along Atlantic Avenue that cuts southwest to Broad Street (CR 20) in Manasquan.
