CR 522 is an east/west route from South Brunswick to Freehold. The first section is an unnamed four-lane divided road in South Brunswick extending from US 1 to US 130 known solely by its number. CR 522 is multiplexed with US 130 for a short distance and then splits off as Ridge Road. It crosses the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95), but there is no interchange. Just past the turnpike, it changes names to become Rhode Hall Road. In Jamesburg, it merges with Dayton Avenue to become Gatzmer Avenue. After a few blocks, it turns onto East Railroad Avenue, which changes names after a few blocks to become Buckelew Avenue. In Englishtown, it changes names again to become Wood Avenue and then Water Street. At the end of Water Street, CR 522 turns south onto Main Street (CR 527) for two blocks and then east onto Tennent Avenue. Heading out of Englishtown, it runs east to Freehold, where it is called Throckmorton Street. It ends at West Main Street (CR 537) in Freehold. All of CR 522 is a two-lane undivided road, except for the westernmost section in South Brunswick.
