MD 285 is a short east/west route running along the north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. It begins at Augustine Herman Highway (MD 213) in Chesapeake City and runs south along Lock Street for a few blocks. It then turns east onto Biddle Street. It follows Biddle Street along the canal to the border with Delaware, where it becomes Chesapeake City Road, an unnumbered road.
