US 44 is an east/west extending from Kerhonkson, New York, to Plymouth, Massachusetts. It enters Massachusetts from Rhode Island just east of Providence. It runs east to Plymouth, along the way passing through Taunton and then having interchanges with the Fall River Expressway (MA 24) and I-495 just south of where they cross. A few miles east of these interchanges, US 44 becomes an expressway. After a few exits, the expressway ends at the Pilgrims Highway (MA 3). US 44 is multiplexed with MA 3 for one exit to the south and then splits off onto Samoset Street. It follows Samoset Street for a short distance to the east to end at Court Street (MA 3A) in the downtown area of Plymouth.
