MA 16 is an east/west route running diagonally through the suburbs and exurbs of Boston. It begins in Webster at the point where MA 12 turns from East Main Street onto Worcester Road, just west of I-395. It runs east to Uxbridge and then northeast to Wellesley. After passing through interchanges with I-95/MA 128 and the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90), it runs northeast through Watertown before reaching Cambridge. There, it is multiplexed with US 3 to the north along Fresh Pond Parkway, Concord Avenue, and Alewife Brook Parkway. At the northern end of Cambridge, US 3 splits off to follow Massachusetts Avenue (MA 2A). MA 16 continues along Alewife Brook Parkway to where it ends at Mystic Valley Parkway. It then follows Mystic Valley Parkway east to Medford, where it changes names to become Revere Beach Parkway. It ends in Revere at a traffic circle along MA 1A where MA 60 begins.
