Main Street begins at North Avenue (US 1) and Cross Street (US 1) in Norwalk and runs northwest as a two-lane undivided road.

Turn left onto New Canaan Avenue at this traffic light to stay on CT 123. Main Street continues straight ahead as SR 719.

There is a railroad crossing at the Danbury Branch of the Metro-North Railroad.

Turn right at this traffic light to stay on New Canaan Avenue. Riverside Avenue (SR 809) is to the left.

New Canaan Avenue runs northwest as a two-lane undivided road. Heading out of town, the surroundings become more wooded.

There is an interchange with the Merritt Parkway (CT 15).

North of the parkway, CT 123 is called New Norwalk Road.

There is a traffic light at CT 106. Turn right onto Silvermine Road to go north or left onto East Avenue to go south.

New Norwalk Road continues north through New Canaan. After a short distance, it changes names to become Smith Ridge Road.

North Wilton Road splits off to the right. Bear left to stay on Smith Ridge Road.

Smith Ridge Road runs north to the state line. It continues into New York as NY 123.
