The SSR 493 designation begins at the Stamford railroad station. Immediately, there is an interchange with the Connecticut Turnpike (I-95). Take the first right to go north or the second left to go south.

Washington Boulevard runs north through Stamford as a four-lane undivided road. There is a traffic light at Richmond Hill Avenue.

There is a traffic light at Tresser Boulevard (US 1). Turn right to go north or left to go south. SSR 493 ends here. Washington Boulevard continues straight ahead as CT 137.
