CT 8 is a major north/south expressway in Connecticut. It begins at the Connecticut Turnpike (I-95) in Bridgeport. It is multiplexed with CT 25 for the first few miles, but the two routes split just south of the Merritt Parkway (CT 15). CT 8 runs to the northeast across the Housatonic River to Derby. It then runs north to Naugatuck and Waterbury and then into Litchfield County. The section of CT 8 in Naugatuck is called the Ansonia-Derby Expressway; elsewhere, the expressway has no name. CT 8 is the only limited-access highway in Litchfield County. The expressway ends at South Main Street (US 44) in Winsted. At this point, CT 8 is multiplexed along US 44 westbound for a few blocks before splitting off onto Park Place East, which becomes North Main Street and then Colebrook River Road. CT 8 ends at the Connecticut-Massachusetts state line, where it becomes MA 8.
