Newtown Road begins at Montauk Highway (CR 80) in Hampton Bays and runs north as a two-lane undivided road. It passes under the railroad tracks and then under Sunrise Highway (NY 27), but there is no interchange.

There is a stop sign. Newtown Road continues to the left as a local street. Turn right onto Sunset Avenue to stay on CR 62. There is no county route signage at this intersection.

Sunset Avenue runs east for a very short distance and then curves to the north. The northern terminus is a dead end at the northern end of the Shinnecock Canal. There is some parking on the right where motorists can stop to view the scenery.
