There is a section of Fulton Avenue that is locally maintained by the Nassau County Department of Public Works (NCDPW) and also carries the designation of CR 107. There are traffic lights at Franklin Avenue (CR 5A), Main Street, Washington Avenue (CR 7A), Clinton Road (CR 1), and Peninsula Boulevard (CR 2).

The locally maintained CR 107 section ends, and Hempstead Turnpike comes back under state maintenance. The speed limit goes up to 40 MPH.

Hempstead Turnpike becomes a divided highway and passes through the campus of Hofstra University. There are three pedestrian overpasses connecting the northern and southern halves of the campus. Immediately after the third overpass, there is a traffic light at Earle Ovington Boulevard and Uniondale Avenue (CR 188).
