These pictures show the Bruckner Expressway as it appeared during an earlier phase of the construction. The little blue bridge has been replaced, and all of the signs for exits 48-47 have been removed or replaced.

Until 2017, tall trucks had to exit to Astoria Boulevard after coming off the RFK Bridge to go around a low underpass on this section of I-278, which was originally built as part of the Grand Central Parkway. The roadway has been lowered, allowing all vehicles to now stay on the interstate.

These pictures show the new Kosciuszko Bridge as it appeared when it first opened to traffic. At the time, both directions were routed across what is now the eastbound span. The old bridge was still standing where the westbound span is today.

These signs for the Williamsburg Bridge used to make it easy to accidentally wind up in Manhattan when one wanted to continue along I-278 in Brooklyn. Fortunately, they have been replaced.

These signs mark the exits immediately after the Verrazano Bridge. When the photographs were taken, the signs listed "South Beach" as a destination for exit 15S. They have since been modified to read "Father Capodanno Boulevard." Also, the HOV lane, which had just been completed at the time, was reserved exclusively for buses. It is now also open to carpools at certain hours.
