Exit 16E is for the Lincoln Tunnel (NJ 495) and NJ 3. All motorists who do not get off here are considered to be using exit 18E, which is rather confusing since the turnpike continues north of here, albeit with a different exit numbering scheme. There is a toll barrier at this point. All motorists who do not have E-ZPass must hand in their tickets and pay a toll depending on how far they have travelled on the turnpike.
