RI 401 is a short east/west route in East Greenwich. Division Road exists as an unnumbered state route from RI 3 to RI 2. Upon crossing RI 2, it widens to become a four-lane divided road and takes on the designation of RI 401. There is an interchange with the Colonel Rodman Highway (RI 4), and then the median ends and Division Road narrows down to two lanes. It continues to the east, curving slightly to the south and changing names to become First Avenue. It ends at Main Street (US 1).
