West Lake Drive begins at Montauk Highway (NY 27) in Montauk and runs north as a two-lane undivided road. Montauk Downs State Park is to the left along this section. Lake Montauk is to the right, but it is not visible from the road.

The northernmost section of West Lake Drive is a loop at Montauk Harbor. Continue straight ahead to continue north. Turn right here to follow CR 77 southbound and traverse the loop in the opposite direction. Turn left for Flamingo Avenue (CR 49), which begins here.
