US 9W is an alternative to US 9 running along the west side of the Hudson River. It begins in Fort Lee, NJ, where US 1/US 9 joins the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95). It runs north, next to the Palisades Parkway (NJ 445), crossing the parkway just south of the New York border. It continues north into New York, ultimately ending at US 9 in Albany. In New Jersey, US 9W is a two- to four-lane undivided road with traffic lights. It has four lanes in Fort Lee and Englewood Cliffs and two lanes further north.
