NJ 48 is a short east/west route in the southwest corner of New Jersey. It is found almost entirely in Carneys Point Township, except for the western terminus, which is in Penns Grove. It extends between US 130 and US 40, crossing I-295 and the New Jersey Turnpike (NJ 700) and having an interchange with the former but not the latter. The entire length is a two-lane undivided road with a few traffic lights.
